Dehydrated garlic granules from India, tested before they ship

Coarse, free-flowing garlic particles for rubs, shakers and meat mixes. We find the plant that mills and sieves them and test every lot at an accredited lab.

Garlic granules are dried garlic milled to coarse particles that flow freely, sold in the US trade as granulated garlic. Seasoning, rub, shaker pack and meat mix makers choose them over powder because they flow better, make less dust and resist caking. The main risks are a lot that carries too much powder, which cuts flow and raises dust, and pungency lost to high drying heat. We work for you, not the factory: we shortlist plants that dry and mill garlic in house, check them in person and test the goods before you pay the balance.

Uses

Where buyers use it

  • Rubs and barbecue blends

Granules stay visible on meat and mix evenly with coarse salt, pepper and herbs without settling out.

  • Shaker packs and grinders

Retail shakers need garlic that pours freely and does not clump in a humid kitchen, which granules handle better than powder.

  • Processed meat

Sausage, burger and kebab mixes use granules for even flavour with less dust in the mixing room.

  • Snack and bread seasonings

Some snack coatings and bread toppings use fine granules where powder would cake in the hopper.

Ordering

What to write into the order

  • The mesh range, with the sieve standard and oversize and fines limits
  • A dust limit through 80 or 100 mesh
  • Maximum moisture and the method used to measure it
  • A sealed colour reference, compared within the same form
  • How pungency will be judged, and the method if a number is needed
  • Microbiology limits and Salmonella absent in 25 g
  • Untreated or steam sterilised, with an ETO-free declaration and test
  • Whether any anti-caking agent is allowed; most buyers want none in plain granules

Shipping

HS code, packing and loads

  • HS code

Dried garlic falls under 0712.90. Garlic granules have no Indian 8-digit line of their own, so exporters choose between the garlic lines, often the powder or dried garlic line. Agree the code with the plant and your customs broker.

  • Packing

Cartons with sealed polyethylene liners, or multiwall bags with liners. Granules are dense, so check carton strength for stacking. Keep garlic sealed and marked when it travels with onion.

  • Container load

Granules are dense, and a 20 ft container can reach the low to mid teens of tonnes, against well under 10 for flakes. These are rough figures; ask for the plant's last actual loading of granules in the same pack.

  • Shelf life

Suppliers commonly state 12 to 24 months sealed, cool and dry. Granules tolerate humid storage better than powder, but strength still fades, so retest pungency on older stock.

Questions

Dehydrated garlic granules: common questions

What is the difference between garlic granules and garlic powder?

Both are milled from the same dried slices. Powder is fine enough to pass a fine sieve and disperses instantly. Granules are coarser, flow freely, make less dust and resist caking better.

What mesh are garlic granules?

Plants set their own bands, and garlic is described in the same mesh terms as onion. Granules are often quoted somewhere in the 16 to 80 mesh region, split into coarse and fine. Write your range and limits into the spec.

Are granulated garlic and garlic granules the same?

Yes. Granulated garlic is the usual US trade name for garlic granules. Check the mesh range rather than the name, as grades differ between suppliers.

What HS code is used for garlic granules?

They fall under 0712.90, other dried vegetables. India has no separate line for granules, so ask your supplier which garlic line they use and have your customs broker confirm it.

Do you sell dehydrated garlic granules?

No. Creston & Co is a sourcing agent. You buy directly from the plant we help you choose, and we work for you: audits, lab tests, inspection and loading supervision, for a fee agreed in writing.
