Packaging machine price in India is set by the pack format, the speed you need, the control system and the make of its major components. A basic pouch machine and a servo-driven machine with a multihead weigher can both be called a packing machine, but they are priced very differently.
We do not publish prices. This article explains what moves the quote so that you can send makers a spec that gets comparable replies.
Which choices move the price most?
Start with the format, because it fixes the whole machine design. Vertical form-fill-seal, horizontal flow wrap, pre-made pouch fillers, cup fillers and bottle lines are all different machines.
After format, these drive the cost:
- Speed in packs per minute, since faster machines need stronger drives, better sealing jaws and tighter control.
- The filler: auger, volumetric cup, liquid pump or weigher, each suited to a different product and each priced differently.
- Pack size range and the number of format changes, because quick changeover parts add cost.
- Material of contact parts, where stainless steel is standard for food and more expensive than mild steel.
- Extras such as date coding, gas flushing, metal detection and a product conveyor.
How do controls and component brands affect cost?
The PLC, touchscreen, servo drives, sensors and pneumatics are usually bought-in components from global brands. Premium brands cost more but make spares and servicing easier in your country. PLC and automation brands in Indian machinery covers the trade-off.
Ask the maker to list the make and model of the PLC, drives, sensors and pneumatic valves in the quote. Make that list part of the contract, so a cheaper substitute cannot be fitted later without your agreement.
How should you write the specification?
Describe the product, not just the machine. State the product form (powder, granule, liquid, paste), bulk density, pack material and thickness, pack dimensions and the fill weight tolerance you need.
Add the electrical supply, the air supply and the room conditions. The packaging machine specification guide gives a fuller checklist. A machine built for the wrong film or the wrong powder will run badly however good it is.
Which commercial terms change the final cost?
Check whether the quote includes a factory acceptance test with your product, spare parts for the first year, operator manuals in your language and installation support. If installation is excluded, find out what a technician visit would involve.
Also confirm the warranty period and what it covers. Wear parts such as sealing jaws and belts are often excluded.
Also ask what is included in the factory acceptance test. A proper test runs your own product and your own film or pouch for a stated period, and records weights, seal quality and rejects. If you cannot attend, an independent inspector can witness it for you and send the video and the log. Confirm that the machine is crated for sea freight and that fragile parts, such as the touchscreen, are packed separately.
