The price of a submersible pump, a 1 hp submersible pump, an openwell pump or a monoblock pump depends on the motor, the pump hydraulics, the materials, the testing and the order quantity. We do not publish price lists here, because a price without a specification is meaningless.
A real quote comes from a sourcing review of your duty point and spec. This article shows what moves the number, so you can compare quotes fairly.
What drives the price of a submersible pump?
The motor is usually the largest cost. Copper winding, insulation class, and whether the motor is oil-filled or water-filled all matter. Then comes the wet end: number of stages, impeller material and diffuser design. Our guide to what decides the price of submersible pumps from Rajkot goes into more detail.
Other items in the quote are the cable, the control panel, the packing and the testing. Two quotes for 1 hp can differ because one includes a panel and cable and the other does not.
How do openwell and monoblock pumps differ in cost?
Openwell pumps are built for open wells and shallow water. They use a different motor and casing arrangement from a borewell pump. Monoblock pumps share one shaft for pump and motor and sit above the water.
The cost drivers differ by family. For borewell pumps, stages and bore diameter count most. For monoblock pumps, casing material, seal type and motor efficiency count most. For openwell pumps, motor sealing and impeller design carry weight.
How does material choice change the quote?
Cast iron is the common baseline. Stainless steel raises material cost and may be needed for corrosive or aggressive water. Engineering plastics such as noryl are used for impellers and parts in clean water duty. See pump materials: cast iron, stainless steel or noryl for guidance.
Copper and steel markets move over time, and quotes are valid for a short period for that reason. Ask how long the quote holds.
How do you compare pump quotes fairly?
Send every supplier the same specification and ask for answers against it. Check that each quote states:
Ask each supplier to state the efficiency or the power consumed at the duty point. A pump with a slightly higher price and a better efficiency can cost less to run over its life, especially if it runs for many hours a day. Ask also about the warranty and who pays for freight if a pump is returned. These terms affect your true cost as much as the unit price does. Finally, remember that the cheapest quote may use a thinner copper winding or a lighter casting, so ask for the motor weight and the casting material on the data sheet.
