Buying from M.N. Dehy Foods: what to check and how we help

M.N. Dehy Foods says it was founded in Mahuva in 2010 and holds BRC and FSSC 22000. Here is what to confirm before you order and how we can help.

According to its website, M.N. Dehy Foods is a manufacturer, exporter and supplier of dehydrated onion and garlic products, founded in 2010 and located near Butiya Bridge in Mahuva, Bhavnagar district, Gujarat.

Creston & Co is not affiliated with M.N. Dehy Foods. This page is a buyer's guide based on public information.

What M.N. Dehy Foods says it makes

Its company website lists dehydrated white, red and pink onion in kibbled, chopped, minced, granule and powder forms, and dehydrated garlic in flakes, chopped, minced, granules and powder. It also lists fresh fried onion, crispy fried golden onion, crispy fried onion, toasted onion kibbled, fresh red and white onions, and ground spices.

The site states ISO 22000:2005 and describes the company as "a BRC & FSSC 22000 certified company". Its Nutrada listing also names FSSAI. Capacity and export destinations are not stated. The site mentions attendance at trade events including Food Hospitality World, Gulfood Manufacturing and SIAL India.

What to verify before you order

Two points stand out from the company's own pages. First, ISO 22000:2005 is an older edition of the standard that has since been replaced by the 2018 version, so the website text may simply not have been updated. Second, the range includes fresh onion and ground spices alongside dehydrated products, so it helps to know what is made on site.

  • Ask for the current BRCGS certificate and check the grade and expiry in the BRCGS directory.
  • Confirm the FSSC 22000 certificate in the FSSC 22000 public register, and ask whether ISO 22000 is still held separately or is now covered within FSSC 22000.
  • Confirm that the plant address near Butiya Bridge appears on the FSSAI manufacturing licence.
  • Ask which products are processed in house and which, if any, are bought in. Ground spices and fresh onion lines are a natural place to ask.
  • A directory search also shows a separate IndiaMART listing called M N Export in Mahuva. If you are contacted under that name, ask whether it is the same business and which entity will invoice you.
  • Test samples of your exact grade at an independent NABL-accredited lab, including ethylene oxide if you sell into the EU.
  • For the US, ask for the FDA food facility registration number.
