Buying from KMC Foods: what to check and how we help

KMC Foods says it makes dehydrated onion, garlic, toasted and fried onion near Mahuva, with BRCGS A+, ISO 22000:2018 and Halal. Here is how to confirm those claims.

According to its website, KMC Foods is a manufacturer and exporter of dehydrated onion, garlic and vegetables, established in 2015, with its plant on Haripara Road at Taveda in Bhavnagar district, in the Mahuva area of Gujarat.

Creston & Co is not affiliated with KMC Foods. This page is a buyer's guide based on public information.

What KMC Foods says it makes

Its company website lists dehydrated white onion, dehydrated red onion, dehydrated garlic, other dehydrated vegetables, toasted onion, fried onion and spices. It states that it produces these in flakes, chopped, minced, granules and powder, and says it serves food manufacturers and spice brands worldwide, without naming countries.

It states three certifications: BRCGS with an A+ grade, ISO 22000:2018 and Halal. The site also mentions that it appears among verified sellers on TradeIndia. Production capacity, staff numbers and export volumes are not stated.

What to verify before you order

KMC's claims are specific, which makes them straightforward to check.

  • BRCGS A+ means the site chose an unannounced audit and scored at the top grade. Ask for the certificate, look the site up in the BRCGS directory, and confirm the grade, the audit type, the expiry and that the scope covers dehydrated onion and garlic, not only one of them.
  • ISO 22000:2018 is issued by a certification body. Ask which one, and check that the body is accredited, for example through the IAF CertSearch database.
  • The Halal certificate should name the certifying body and the products covered. If you sell into a market with its own halal rules, such as Indonesia or the GCC, ask whether that body is recognised there.
  • Toasted and fried onion are separate processes from air drying. Ask whether both lines run at the Taveda plant, and confirm the address on the FSSAI licence and on each certificate is the same.
  • Ask for a specification sheet per form, with mesh size for powder and granules, moisture, colour and microbiological limits, then compare a sealed sample against it in a lab.
  • If you ship to the US, confirm the FDA food facility registration and plan your FSVP records.

How we help if you want to buy from KMC Foods

We can contact KMC Foods for you, visit the plant to see the drying, toasting and frying lines, and check every certificate against its register. We draw sealed samples, have them tested at an NABL-accredited lab against your country's limits, negotiate the terms, supervise loading and check the documents before you pay, for one written fee. You buy directly from the company.

If KMC is not the right fit for your volume or grade, we compare it with other plants in the cluster that make dehydrated onion and dehydrated garlic. See other manufacturers, and read how BRCGS, FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 compare if you are weighing certificates.
