What decides the price of ceramic wall tiles from Morbi?

Wall tile prices depend on body, size, thickness, glaze effects, grade, packing, order size and fuel costs. Here is how each driver works and how to get a quote you can compare.

The price of a ceramic wall tile from Morbi is decided mainly by the body, the size and thickness, the glaze and print effects, the grade and the packing. Fuel costs, order size and timing then move the quote up or down.

This article explains each driver, without figures. Real prices change with fuel and demand, so the only reliable number is a current written quote for a defined product.

Product drivers

  • Body: white-body wall tiles generally cost more to make than red-body tiles, because the raw materials are more refined.
  • Size: larger formats need more careful pressing and firing and lose more to breakage on the line, so they usually cost more per square metre.
  • Thickness: a thicker tile uses more material and fuel per square metre and adds weight per container.
  • Rectification: tiles ground to exact size after firing need an extra process step.
  • Glaze and effects: metallic, glitter, gold and structured finishes add materials and steps, so decor tiles usually cost more than base tiles.
  • Design: designs that need more ink layers, special effects or more faces can cost more.

Grade and sorting

The same tile is sold in different grades, and the grade changes the price. A Premium or export grade has fewer allowed defects than Standard or Commercial. Each factory defines its grades differently, so compare quotes only against written grade definitions. Our guide on comparing quotes from Morbi factories explains how.

Order and packing drivers

  • Order size: a full container of a few designs is cheaper to produce than many small lots.
  • Stock or made to order: ready stock may be offered on different terms from a fresh run.
  • Private-label boxes: printed cartons add a setup cost and a minimum box quantity.
  • Packing: pallets, corner protection and stronger cartons cost more than basic loose loading.
  • Delivery terms: an FOB quote and a CIF quote include different costs and are not directly comparable.

Cost drivers outside the product

Fuel is one of the largest production costs for a Morbi plant. Most kilns run on natural gas or propane, and quotes often carry a short validity period because fuel prices move. The detail is in how gas prices affect Morbi tile costs.

Your landed cost also includes freight, insurance, customs duty and any trade-remedy duty in your market. These are not part of the factory price but decide what the tile costs you on arrival. The wider picture is in what affects tile prices.

How to get a quote you can compare

  • Send every factory the same specification: body, work size, thickness, finish, grade definition and packing.
  • Ask for the square metres, boxes and weight per container for each size.
  • Ask for the quote's validity period and what can change it.
  • Ask for the delivery term and the port.
