Sanitaryware price list from Morbi: what decides basin and set prices

A sanitaryware price list from Morbi will not tell you what you will pay. Model, glaze, fittings and packing decide basin and toilet prices, and a quote needs a spec.

A sanitaryware price list from Morbi, a wash basin wholesale rate or a one-piece toilet price in India is not a stable number. Prices vary by model, glaze, fittings, packing and quantity, and the same-looking piece can be a different product from one factory to the next.

You get a usable price by sending a specification and asking for a written quote, which stays valid for a stated period.

Why do sanitaryware prices vary so much?

Sanitaryware is made from slip cast in moulds and fired at high temperature, so the cost depends on mould type, piece weight, reject rate, energy and glaze. A complex one-piece toilet has a higher reject rate than a simple pedestal basin, and the factory prices that in.

See what decides the price of one-piece WCs for the cost drivers on toilets.

Which choices move the price?

These are the choices that change a quote most:

  • Model and shape: one-piece, two-piece, wall-hung, counter-top or pedestal.
  • Glaze colour and finish: white is standard, coloured and matt glazes cost more to control.
  • Flush system and certification: rimless, siphonic or washdown, and the tests the model must pass.
  • Fittings: seat cover, cistern, flush valve and fixings, and their quality.
  • Packing: carton strength, inner protection and pallets, covered in how sanitaryware is packed.
  • Quantity and mix: minimums per model and per container affect the rate, see the MOQ for sanitaryware from Morbi.

How should you ask for a quote?

Send a clear specification for each model: dimensions, trap pattern, flush type, glaze, fittings and packing. Our guide on how to write a specification for a one-piece WC shows what to include. Ask for the quote in a stated Incoterm with validity and an itemised fittings list.

Ask what grade the price is for, and what the plant does with second-quality pieces. Mixed quality is the most common way a sanitaryware quote misleads.

How do you compare quotes?

Compare like with like: the same model, glaze, fittings and packing. Then check the container load, because the number of pieces per container changes the cost of freight per piece. A low unit price with weak packing often ends in breakage.

Be careful with wholesale list prices: they may be for domestic stock, in different packing and grade from what an export order needs.

What should you ask about the glaze and the model?

Ask for the glaze specification, the thickness range and the finish test for each colour. A coloured glaze needs tighter control than white, and a matt glaze shows faults that gloss can hide. Request a photo of the pieces under side light before you approve production.

Ask whether the model has had a design change in the last year. If so, ask for samples from the new mould and compare them with your approved sample, since fit with fixings and cisterns can change with small differences in dimension.

Check the packing list against the order before shipment. Sanitaryware sets are often supplied as several cartons, and a missing seat or cistern lid is far easier to fix at the factory than at the destination.
