Private label bearings, custom valves from India and custom fasteners are all possible, but each product has a different limit on what can be changed. Bearings carry safety-critical tolerances and markings, valves are tied to pressure standards, and fasteners are governed by grade and property class.
The rule for all three is the same: you may brand and customise, but you may not misstate the standard, grade or origin.
How does private label work for bearings?
A maker can laser-mark or print your brand and part number on the bearing or its box, and supply it in your packaging. Interesting variations include a special seal, grease or clearance.
The point to guard is the claim made by the marking. A bearing marked to a precision class must meet it, and a bearing sold as a premium grade must use the steel and heat treatment of that grade. Ask for inspection records and test a sample for dimensions, runout and hardness. Bearing standards and tolerance classes and bearings made in Rajkot give the background.
What can you customise in valves?
Indian valve makers will build to your pattern, change end connections, face-to-face lengths, handwheel and paint, and mark your brand. Changes to pressure rating, body material or seat design need engineering review and testing.
Check the following with the maker:
- The design standard that the valve follows, and the testing standard used for shell and seat tests.
- The body material, with a material test certificate for the heats used.
- Pressure and temperature rating for the valve as modified.
- Whether any local approval for your market, such as for drinking water or gas, is needed.
What can you customise in fasteners?
Custom fasteners are made to a drawing or a standard. You can change length, thread, head style, coating, packaging and markings, and you can add your own head mark for traceability.
A fastener marked 8.8 or 10.9 must meet the mechanical properties of that class, which depends on steel and heat treatment. Ask for test reports on tensile strength and hardness, and a coating check. Fastener grades and standards and fasteners from Gujarat explain how to specify them. For custom valves see also valves from Gujarat.
What are the risks of branding catalogue items?
The main risk is counterfeit-style marking. Do not ask a maker to copy a famous brand's mark or packaging. That is trademark infringement, and goods can be seized at customs. Use your own registered brand.
Also expect minimum order quantities for custom marking or packing, which are higher than for plain stock. Agree on the batch size and on the stock of unbranded product held for you.
Ask for a sample of the finished, branded product before you place a full order, and test it. Keep a retained sample from the first lot as a reference for later shipments. This catches quiet changes in steel, coating or seals after the first order.
