What hydraulic parts are made in Gujarat?

Gujarat makes hydraulic cylinders, gear pumps, valves, power packs, hose fittings and couplings, mainly in Ahmedabad and Rajkot, for farm, mobile and industrial machines.

Gujarat makes a broad range of hydraulic parts, including cylinders, gear pumps, directional valves, power packs, hose fittings and quick couplings. Most makers sit in Ahmedabad and Rajkot and supply tractors, farm machines, construction equipment and industrial presses.

Many of these plants grew up serving local machine builders. That gives them practical experience, but their standards and testing vary widely.

Some plants make complete units, while others machine parts for larger makers. A plant that only machines cylinder tubes may not have the test bench or seal knowledge to sell finished cylinders.

Common product groups

  • Hydraulic cylinders, single-acting and double-acting, including tie-rod and welded designs and tractor tipping cylinders.
  • External gear pumps and motors for tractors, tippers and small mobile machines.
  • Directional control valves, both monoblock and sectional, plus relief and flow control valves.
  • Hydraulic power packs that combine a motor, pump, tank and valves on one frame.
  • Hose fittings, adaptors and ferrules in steel and brass.
  • Quick-release couplings for tractor and implement connections.
  • Machined parts such as cylinder tubes, piston rods, glands and pistons.

What decides quality

A hydraulic part fails at its seals, its surfaces or its threads. The key checks are tube honing and finish, rod hardness and chrome thickness, seal brand and fit, and thread form.

Ask where tubes and rods come from, and whether honing, induction hardening and chrome plating happen in-house. Ask which seals are used and whether they suit your oil and temperature range.

Standards to name

  • Port threads, such as BSPP, metric or SAE O-ring boss, which must match your machine. See thread standards.
  • Cylinder mounting dimensions, where you need interchange with ISO cylinder sizes.
  • Coupling interchange standards, such as ISO 7241 for agricultural quick couplings.
  • Cleanliness limits for the oil inside, often stated as an ISO 4406 code.

Testing before shipment

Every cylinder and valve should be pressure tested before painting. A cylinder test usually holds a proof pressure above the working pressure and checks for leaks and drift. Gear pumps should be run on a test bench for flow and pressure.

Ask for a test record for each serial number. For bigger orders, witness tests on a sample during the pre-shipment inspection.

Common problems

  • Rod chrome that peels or pits because it is too thin or poorly prepared.
  • Seals that leak after a few months because of a poor tube finish or a cheap compound.
  • Ports that are dirty inside or left uncapped during shipping.
  • Thread forms that look right but do not match your fittings.
  • Paint applied over rod surfaces or seal areas, which damages seals on first use.
