Yes. Many Indian frozen snack plants make samosas, parathas, spring rolls and similar items to a buyer's recipe and pack them under the buyer's brand. Some offer their standard recipe in your packaging, which is quicker to launch.
The work is in the detail. You need a written recipe and spec, approved samples, packaging that meets your market's rules and an order size the plant will accept.
Your recipe or theirs
Using the plant's existing recipe is the simplest route. It is already proven on their line, and the plant knows its shelf life. Changing the filling, size or spice level is common and usually fine.
A fully custom recipe takes longer. The plant must source new ingredients, trial batches, and check that the product survives freezing, storage and cooking. Ask who owns the recipe. If it matters to you, put ownership and confidentiality in writing.
Ask the plant to confirm the shelf life for your recipe from its own storage trials. A new filling or a change of oil can shorten it. Keep sealed reference samples of the approved version so later batches can be compared.
What to give the factory
- Recipe with ingredient percentages, or a target to match.
- Piece weight, size and shape, with tolerances.
- Pastry or dough thickness and filling ratio.
- Cooking state: raw, part-cooked or fully cooked.
- Cooking instructions you expect the end user to follow.
- Microbiological, allergen and additive limits for your market.
- Pack format: pieces per bag, bags per carton, carton marking.
- Label artwork and translations.
Packaging and labelling
Printed bags and boxes usually need a minimum print run, often larger than one order. Plan artwork, cylinder or plate costs and stock of packaging early. Some buyers start with a plain bag and a sticker label, then move to printed packs once sales are proven.
Your label must follow the importing market's rules, not Indian rules. The importer is normally responsible for it. See labelling rules for frozen foods abroad and the general guide on private label packing in India.
Steps from idea to first container
Minimum order quantities for private label are covered in the MOQ for frozen fries or frozen snacks.
