Can you combine jewellery from several Rajkot makers in one shipment?

Yes. Goods from several makers can be gathered, checked and shipped together under one export invoice or several. It saves freight and clearance costs if the paperwork is planned.

Yes. Many buyers source necklace sets from one Rajkot workshop, bangles from another and earrings from a third, and ship them together. The goods are gathered at one point, checked, packed and sent as one consignment, which saves on freight minimums, courier charges and customs clearance fees at your end.

Consolidation works best when one party is responsible for the timing, the checks and the paperwork. Without that, one late maker holds up everyone else.

Who exports the goods

There are two common set-ups. In the first, each maker exports its own goods under its own invoice and shipping bill, and the forwarder combines them into one air or sea shipment. You receive several invoices but one arrival. In the second, a single exporter, often one of the makers or a merchant exporter, buys from the others and exports everything under one invoice. That is simpler at your end but adds a margin and puts one company between you and the others.

Either works. Decide before ordering, because it changes who you pay and who signs the export documents.

Making the timing work

  • Give every maker the same ready date, set a few days before the planned dispatch.
  • Track each order weekly, since the slowest maker sets the shipping date.
  • Agree what happens if one maker is late: ship without them, or hold everything.
  • Book inspection for each maker's goods before they are moved to the consolidation point.

Keeping the goods traceable

Use carton marks that show both your purchase order and the maker, for example "PO 2026-14 / Maker B / Carton 3 of 8". Keep a separate packing list per maker plus a combined one. If a problem appears on arrival, you will know whose goods it came from.

Packing standards should be the same for every maker: the same inner bags, cards and carton sizes. Otherwise the shipment arrives in a mix of formats that slows down your receiving and your marketplace listings.

Costs and risks

Consolidation adds a local collection run and handling, which is small compared with what it saves on a second international shipment. The bigger risk is loss in transit between workshops and the consolidation point. Count and seal cartons at each maker and recheck them on arrival at the consolidation point.

What this means for a buyer

If you buy from several makers, appoint one party to coordinate dates, inspections and documents. Creston & Co works for buyers only, for a fixed fee agreed in writing. We inspect each maker's goods, consolidate cartons in Rajkot and hand one complete shipment to your forwarder. Start with a free sourcing review.
